About Me

Oh hai! I'm Maggie; just your average, 24 year old, American-born Chinese/Taiwanese girl, potentially going through the 'quarter life crisis' that so many of us Western-bred youths are facing these days. I have a comfortable 9-5 job in the Internet industry working in intellectual property, and am ever so grateful that I have gotten to put my Berkeley undergraduate degree in Rhetoric (say whaaa?) to use. I like independent music, NPR, calling movies 'films', and sensations of change, spontaneity, and adventure.

In February of 2011, I made up my mind to pack my bags and move to the tiny island city-state of Singapore, and leave everything behind in the place where I have lived and loved in the past 24 years, the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you're a close friend and reading this, you can say to yourself, 'I knew it was coming.' Those who know me well enough know that I can't sit still in one location for more than possibly two weeks, so obviously, the logical thing to do was to move to Singapore.

Why?

The Bay Area is wonderful, and I feel blessed to have had many amazing experiences in the places I have lived (San Jose, Berkeley, and San Francisco), but this snippet of the world just ain't enough. I'm spreading my wings to learn more about the East and Southeast Asian world, improve my Mandarin, maybe become a pro badminton player, and live the expat life I have always dreamed of. Crazy? Yes. Plausible? Of course.

In this short life of mine thus far, I have been to over 25 countries (total travel addict, can you tell?), and am hoping to really broaden my horizons though, in the 1? 2? 5? years that I'll be in Singapore. Please feel free to drop me a line about anything, whether it is about Radiohead stopping in Asia as part of a world tour, or the perfect curry laksa recipe. Thanks for reading!

(The aforementioned most delicious thing ever.)
